Tar Heel  Boys State 2025

It is hard to believe that 2024 is almost over, but here we are in early December!  With 2025 fast approaching,  it is time for our 2025 Boys State application program to get started.

This year Dale Overcash, our Judge Advocate, will head up Post 86’s program. He will be ably assisted by Randy Wally, Immediate Past-Commander and Bill Fountain, who was a faculty member at the 2024 Boys State program.

The 2025 program will again be held at Catawba College in Salisbury, June 15-21.

This year, the NC Department has made a significant change in the program – all applications will now be made online, with candidates and their families responsible for completing their application in this manner.  Post 86, however, will continue to reach out to our local schools and encourage them to identify candidates.

Candidates can apply online now at www.TarHeelBoysState.org.  Once there, the website will direct them to the next steps in the process.  Our Post 86 team will likely begin our candidate interviews in mid to late January.

A candidate must be a rising  Senior at his school this summer in order to participate in the Boys State program.

Post 86 plans to pay for four candidates to attend the 2025 program.  Since the application process is now online, we expect more applicants this year.  If you have an eligible son or grandson, or know of a young man who is eligible to attend, please give them the website address above and encourage them to start the application process as soon as possible.

As we move forward into the interview process, our Post 86 team will keep you informed.

If you have any questions about the 2025 program, please contact Dale Overcash at [email protected].
